Which Wavestorm surfboard size is right for you?
Choosing the correct sized Wavestorm surfboard depends upon your own personal height and weight. The Wavestorm 8′ surfboard listed below will suit most adult males. Extra large adult males might want to try out the Wavestorm 9′ surfboard whereas smaller sized adults and larger sized children will want to choose the Wavestorm 7′ surfboard option. Smaller sized children go best with the Wavestorm 5’6 surfboard, although some adults with a higher skill level choose this option if they’re looking for performance with a shortboard. If you’re unsure then generally it’s best to go with a bigger sized board.

Whilst you’re unlikely to be surfing on such large waves, this video below will show you the potential of the board.
A look inside the Wavestorm Soft Top Surfboard
A number of key elements that make up Wavestorm foam surfboards can be seen in the above diagram. The textured traction pad at the end of the board provides extra grip when you’re popping up. The expanded polystyrene (EPS) core is what provides the buoyancy and floatation and the textured water barrier skin prevents the core of the surfboard from taking on any water. The x3 marine-ply wood stringers inside the board maintain the shape and strength whilst the high density, slick bottom skin on the bottom of the board reduces water friction allowing the board to glide. Finally, the bolt through fin-system allows removable fins to be attached.
What Do Wavestorm Surfboards Have in Common
If you search through the Wavestorm surfboard product line you’ll see that there are a number of common features:
- They’re designed for beginners and make catching smaller waves easier.
- Made from a soft foam, the expanded polystyrene material makes the surfboard incredibly safe and prevents injuries.
- Their extra buoyancy gives more paddle power which is ideal for beginner and improver surfers.
- The carry capacity on each surfboard allows for anyone that is up to 200lbs (90kgs) in weight.
- Accessories included with each board include 3 fins, a leash and a textured traction pad.
- All have the same fin layout which is a 3 fin, thruster layout that’s designed for extra stability.
- They’re all very affordable and are priced at the lower end of the market.
The Wavestorm line of surfboards are buoyant and aimed beginners that need a learner board with stability. The main difference is the size of the board, with each model size simply aimed at different sized people. Aside from this, the board also comes with a few different looking paint designs.
Other Wavestorm Boards For Sale
Much easier to use than a surfboard, this bodyboard from Wavestorm is easy to balance on and comes with a leash so the board doesn’t float away from you. Made with extra safe foam and a slick bottom allowing you to catch speed.
Perfect for use on the beach even when the waves are tiny. These skimboards allow you to run, drop the board and then glide across the surface of the water. Made with an expanded polystyrene core with 3 internal plywood stringers and a slick HDPE bottom. Available in 2 sizes:
Used Wavestorm Surfboards
When buying a Wavestorm surfboard we recommend that you only purchase surfboards that are brand new before giving anyone your money. You might think that by buying used you can find some cheap surfboards from places such as Craigslist, but you’re more likely to find a used surfboard with dings and floatation issues that are hard to detect until you are actually in the water. So the surfboard might require a significant amount of repair before it can be used. What’s more, a new surfboard often comes with a warranty so that if any issues do arrive then you can get a replacement – not something you’ll be able to do with an old surfboard. If you are looking for a used surfboard then the best places to look for them are on Craigslist and Ebay (or Gumtree if in the UK or OZ).
Wavestorm surfboards in Costco?
If you’ve ever been to Costco and you came across the sport equipment aisle you may have seen some Wavestorm surfboards for sale. Part of the reason they’re such a popular item at Costco is because of their return policy – if you break the board, they’ll replace it with a new one. Whilst you might want to head down to your local Costco to buy your board we recommend against it simply because surfboards are quite big and a hassle to carry. If you instead order online via Costco then you can get your surfboard shipped directly to your house.
Wavestorm Surfboard Accessories
Every Wavestorm surfboard comes with a thruster fin or 3 fin layout which is a setup that adds extra stability and is ideal for beginners to learn on. You can also remove the 2 outer fins and ride single fin if you choose.
There are 2 surfboard fin accessories available which are ideal for replacements: one sold as a single fin and the other sold as a triple fin set.
4.5 inch fin
Made for the Wavestorm longboard surfboards that are 7ft, 8ft, 9ft and 10ft long. Installation is easy as it comes with 2 top plugs can be used to screw and tighten the fin onto the surfboard.
Wavestorm Surfboard Leash
Wavestorm provides a high quality surfboard leash that will ensure you board never floats too far away. It’s available in two different sizes, one leash measures 8 ft whilst the other one is 10 ft 6 inches. The leash itself is made from polyurethane whereas the ankle straps are attached to your ankle using velcro. Can be easily installed by simply looping the leash into the leash tie.
Wavestorm Surfboard Sock Cover
Wave storm offers a soft knitted surf board sock that gives an extra layer of protection to your surfboard and makes carrying your board that much easier. There are 3 versions of this sock cover that include 8 ft, 9 ft 6 inches and 10 ft 6 inches. The sock protects against UV sunlight rays that can turn your board yellow if it is left outside for prolonged periods of time.
Extra Wavestorm Accessories
You can also buy spare top plugs from Wavestorm if you have lost any and these are used to screw fins onto your surfboard. There is also a webbing leash connector that can be bought that will make attachment point between your plugs and the fin stronger.
